Inspiration

I’m killing myself.

(How’s that for a hook?)

I’m chipping away at my life through my apathy, my inaction, and my indulgence. It’s not a pleasant realization when you recognize just how far off the path of good health you’ve wandered. I’ve wandered – lost – long enough.

This year I will turn things around. It won’t be easy. It won’t be easy in the least. It will be struggle, breakdowns and setbacks, and pain.

It will change my life. It will save my life.

And I’m the only one who can do it.

Anything you can do about that unsightly second toe?

Perhaps we should coordinate goals. A little healthy competition never hurt us, right? Only our knees...

Speaking of running, Missi wants to run a road race with us this year.

It does make my foot look a little like a hand, don't it?

I'm always game for a little competition.

I challenge you to a marathon this fall.

I'm also planning on Run for the Roses this fall - always a great, fun - flat - run for beginners to road racing. And omelets!

I would like to participate also if you guys don't mind. I would like to try other stuff.

A marathon?! !@#*&$&(@#$&!!

Is the challenge to be in shape for a marathon or to beat your time in the marathon?

Here I was thinking a % body weight loss competition (I don't weigh much less than you), but I suppose a marathon is a good goal.

I will aim to have her in road running shape by the fall. She's worried we'll leave her in the dust or she'll hold us back, but I assure her we would at least tie a rope around her and drag her if she was too slow.

The marathon challenge would be to run a marathon, not beat anyone's time.

I don't know how we could do a % weight loss contest...but we could do a thing where we give each other health/nutrition challenges each week to complete. I'll think on this today and make a post later in the day with a possible contest.

Steve - we'd be happy to have you.

I'll keep Missi company back in the "slow-poke" section at the road race of your choosing. Just tell me where to be and give me enough time to take the day off from work...

I hate you guys for making me run a marathon. HATE YOU!
